One Hundred Years of the Mystic River Bridge<\/h1>\n

Mystic is famous for many things, for example, Mystic Pizza<\/a>, the Mystic Aquarium<\/a>, and the Mystic Seaport Museum<\/a>. However one of the most popular attractions, captivating the attention of locals and visitors alike, is the Mystic River Bascule Bridge. This year is the one hundred year anniversary of the Mystic Drawbridge. To celebrate this momentous occasion, there are events scheduled all spring and summer long, culminating in an epic celebration in October. Read on to learn more about all the ways we\u2019re celebrating the drawbridge!<\/p>\n<\/div>

Outer Light Brewing<\/b><\/p>\n

Outer Light Brewing Company<\/a> created a commemorative beer to celebrate the 100th year anniversary. They call it \u201cWalk Your Horses,\u201d a homage to the signs that used to hang over old bridges to denote speed limits. This IPA is available on tap and in cans at Outer Light Brewing, as well as special pint glasses, so you can start the celebration today!<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Bridge Trail\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Beginning Friday, May 27th, the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce<\/a> will open the Bridge Trail<\/a>. More than fifty stores throughout Mystic have created special, limited edition bridge anniversary items, promotions, and offers. The proceeds generated will go towards the 100th anniversary events and the Bridge Scholarship Fund. A complete list of stores, locations, and promotions will be available on the GMCC website, as well as on the Bridge Trail app that is available to download. The Bridge Trail will be open through October 15th.<\/p>\n

Commemorative Bridge Anniversary Magazine<\/b><\/p>\n

On Saturday June 4th, the Commemorative Bridge Anniversary Magazine will be available to purchase at various locations around Mystic. This magazine, written by the Mystic River Historical Society<\/a>, features 48 pages of pictures, stories and interviews. The magazine will have never before seen historical photographs of the bridge, interviews with former bridge tenders, newspaper articles, historic happenings, and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Photo Competition<\/b><\/p>\n

Saturday June 11th kicks off the Bridge Anniversary Photo Competition. Submit your best picture of the Mystic Bascule Bridge on instagram for your chance to win overnight stays in Mystic, dinners for two, bridge trail anniversary products and more. Further details coming soon!<\/p>\n<\/div>

Fireworks Show<\/b><\/p>\n

The final celebration for the 100th Anniversary of the Mystic River Bascule Bridge is the dedication and fireworks show on October 15th. This event is still in the works, but there will be a dedication by members of our state and local government. Winners of the scholarship and photo contest will be announced, and so much more. It all culminates in an epic fireworks show over the Mystic River sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino.<\/p>\n
